Private Investigators/Agencies
All private investigators in Louisiana must be
licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Private
Investigator Examiners (LSBPIE). In
Louisiana, there are four types of investigator
licenses: agency, individual, apprentice and
journeyman. Only a licensed private
investigative agency can work for the general
public, law firms, insurance companies and
claims administrators. Individual,
apprentice and journeyman private investigators
must work for a licensed agency and they cannot
directly solicit or conduct business with
clients.
